Smart Badge

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Lead Engineer, Systems Lead, DFx Engineer. Many hats were worn during the design and build of the Smart Badge. Sole ME on the project, responsible for the entirety of the design from concept to production with our CM. During the development, i worked closely with ID/EE/FW teams to drive towards a product that met all physical requirements while maintaining the desired look and feel. As a lead on this project, i was apart of the ID led user research and all early ideation sessions.

Parts were tooled and an initial build of 3000 devices were programmed and assembled in house. For the Initial build, I created the schedule, designed and built all necessary fixturing, setup all stations, and validated all stations. During the build I was responsible for schedule, staffing, troubleshooting and operating any/all stations as well as final packaging of devices. Device consisted of a ultrasonically welded main frame with a magnetic removable rear cover. IP67 rated with O-ring seal, IP63 rated without seal. Onboard BLE and RF. Custom designed battery contacts; stamped/formed/plated. Low Profile/lightweight device.
